Wander North to See One of the Seven Wonders of the World…The Grand Canyon
What a fantastic day-trip from the BEST WESTERN Cottonwood Inn and well worth spending an extra night to see one of the seven natural wonders of the world…The Awesome Grand Canyon National Park !!!
The 277 mile long Grand Canyon is the handiwork of Mother Nature at her best, with a little help from the still winding, Colorado River that lies more than a mile below the top of the South Rim. As the crow flies, the North Rim is a scant ten miles away but is a several hour journey by car. Millions of years in the making, the wind-eroded buttes and mesas rise from the canyon floor as monoliths paying homage to their creator and we watch silently as they are bathed in sunlight and bask in their glory…We are so small…and there is much greatness surrounding us.
Each visitor to the Grand Canyon has their own unique experience and each tries to capture the majesty and splendor with what they hope will be a photo memory…but there is no photo that explains what it is actually like to be there. The South Rim is the most visited vantage point and offers gift shops featuring authentic Indian art, jewelry and pottery and a myriad of souvenirs for those back home that did not make the trip.
The more adventurous may choose to hike the canyon or perhaps had the foresight to reserve a mule ride, a year in advance, down the canyon wall to the Colorado River. There are River Raft excursions and Helicopter Tours and the newest attraction, The Grand Canyon Skywalk Glass Bridge, is on the way back to the Best Western Cottonwood Inn.
|Grand Canyon Skywalk Glass Bridge: The newest addition to the Grand Canyon experience is the breathtaking views from the Skywalk that juts out from the canyon wall with the canyon floor 4,000 feet below. Unbelievably beautiful vistas of Grand Canyon West have never been seen before. Take the walk, then talk the talk.|
|Grand Canyon Railway: Once the only way to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, other than by horseback, this entertaining two-hour train ride begins in Williams, Arizona, with a “Wild West Show”, then all aboard for arrival at the scenic South Rim for a three-hour Grand Canyon experience. The trip back is an all new adventure with cowboy songs and …..wait, what’s that…it’s the Wild West Train Robbers. Visit the Depot gift shop for souvenirs. Let us book your train ride for you!|
